This “Mars” is mighty. There are a few little mistakes (they’re small enough not to mention). Despite the little mistakes, the overall effect of this particular movement is one of “Hey, this is a pretty good ‘Mars'”. And there’s a great timpani thump at 3:11. (I just wanted to mention that.)

“Venus” is lovely.

“Mercury” flits/scampers/scurries about in a frisky way. (I couldn’t decide which word to use there. Sorry about that.)

“Jupiter” is splendid, despite the slightly insecure solo trumpet playing from 0:32-0:52, and a stray horn note at 3:12.

“Saturn” is excellent.

“Uranus” is solid.

And “Neptune” is mysterious with a capital “M”.

Yep, this is a decent set of The Planets.
